Rita Sodi
Chef and Owner of I Sodi, as well as the Co-Chef/Owner of The Commerce Inn, Via Carota and Bar Pisellino
Rita Sodi is chef and owner of I Sodi, as well as the co-chef/owner of The Commerce Inn, Via Carota and Bar Pisellino. In 2008, after a successful international career in fashion, Rita courageously opened her first restaurant on Christopher Street to instant critical acclaim. Via Carota was opened with Sodi’s partner, Jody Williams, in 2014, followed by its companion, Bar Pisellino, in 2019. Low-key, utterly traditional and perfectly executed, Sodi’s Tuscan cooking has been featured in The New Yorker, Saveur, Grub Street, Time Out, Serious Eats, Food & Wine, the Village Voice, New York Magazine, the New York Times, and the 2020 Michelin Guide. Always remaining connected to her Italian roots, Sodi still owns part of her family's farm in Barberino de Mugello, north of Florence, participating in the annual olive harvest and shipping the bright, clean extra-virgin oil to her kitchens in New York.
