Mitch Prinstein, Ph.D., ABPP is the Chief Science Officer of the American Psychological Association, and at the at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill he serves as the John Van Seters Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience, and the Co-Director of the Winston National Center on Technology Use, Brain, and Psychological Development. Prior to APA and UNC, Mitch served as the Director of Clinical Psychology at Yale University. He is a board-certified clinical psychologist and scientist who has been studying child and adolescent mental health for over 25 years, publishing over 200 scientific manuscripts, chapters, textbooks, and a set of encyclopedias, as well as the acclaimed trade book, “Popular: Finding Happiness and Success in a World That Cares Too Much About the Wrong Kinds of Relationships,” and adolescent workbook “Like Ability: The Truth About Popularity.” Mitch is regularly featured as an expert in psychological science, within hundreds of national and international outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, C-SPAN, National Public Radio, the Los Angeles Times, CNN, U.S. News & World Report, Time magazine, New York magazine, Newsweek, Reuters, NPS’s All Things Considered, and in two TEDx talks.
